The SAFL Media briefly caught up with Alessio Frisina who is a member of the Adelaide Fusion Futsal Club, to grab his views on the upcoming SAFL season.
SAFL: With the inaugural SAFL Men’s League coming up in September, what are your thoughts on this new era and how will this effect/benefit Adelaide Fusion FC?
Alessio Frisina: This new era of futsal has been a long time coming. It is an opportunity for this state to develop and learn to love the game of futsal. There is no doubt that it will be successful and for me, I cant wait to be a part of history. The SAFL Men’s League is crucial for Adelaide Fusion FC as we can now compete against very strong opposition which ultimately will test ourselves. Of course, it is a no brainer that this league will help strengthen our squad for the next FAFL cup in Melbourne at Futsal OZ.
SAFL: What are the movements of the Fusion squad and are you still strong favourites for the title?
Alessio Frisina: We have a few players going out, but also a few players coming into the squad as far as I know. But I will leave the movements up to the coaching staff. Definitely, I have full faith in our teams ability to win the title in consideration that there are some very strong teams out there such as the likes of Rostrevor FC and Eastern Warriors. Some new fresh faces coming into the side will also help our quest for silverware.
SAFL: Who are the key players in the Fusion side and comment on any new signings.
Alessio Frisina: There are too many to choose from in my opinion but we like to focus on the team rather than individuals. The signing of Luke Klimek is one you cant look past, his passing ability and skill will definitely add a new element to our team, top player.
SAFL: Which clubs will challenge Fusion and why?
Alessio Frisina: Well look, every team will challenge us. Some look at us as the team to beat and we are happy to be labelled that because it brings the level of quality up higher another knotch. The League is very strong and anyone can beat anyone on their day.
SAFL: How will Adelaide Fusion fare in the 2013 FAFL Cup later this year?
Alessio Frisina: For me, I think that will go one step further at the FAFL cup this year. The quality over there is a class above and we are learning more every time we participate. The SAFL League will help us strengthen our side and hopefully allow us to accomplish our goal of reaching the Semi-Finals. Froth!
SAFL: What structures are in place for the Juniors at Adelaide Fusion and do we have any future Futsalroos players?
Alessio Frisina:This year we have junior teams from U/10’s through to U/15’s. We implement a high level of training as we teach them the fundamentals of the game, hoping they can one day represent the green and gold. There are many potential Futsalroos players amongst our group of kids, its just a matter if they want to push for it or not as outdoor does lure away many talented kids from our junior setup. There is a bright future for Adelaide Fusion FC.
