Adelaide Fusion FC will make their debut in the Women’s League this Sunday against Norwood FC after competing in the Futsal Festival earlier this year. The majority of the squad has taken part in the SAFL’s FC Adelaide program and will be a team to watch in the 2014 season. Captain MJ Rajcic takes a loan spell to the Eastern Warriors for this season as travels will interupt her season with Fusion.

Amelia Pacillo says that being around the Fusion men’s team is beneficial for the female player’s development. “We did not have such a connection with Paradise FC men’s last season so now we are in a club setup which will help us become stronger.” Pacillo also touched on the growth of Women’s Futsal is South Australia over the past 11 months since the SAFL’s inception. The first season began with 4 teams which then doubled to 8 teams in the summer of 2013. The winter season this year will involve just 5 teams but will be high in quality. “It has gotten bigger and better each season. Now at Fusion we will have better coaching and can achieve a high level of development. After experiencing training with the Fusion men, we can now aspire to get to that level.”

Fellow teammate Renae Pantelis believes the 2014 season will be better than the previous two she has competed in. “We have a really strong squad and a competitive edge. Many of the girls have trained together and took part in the FC Adelaide experience earlier this year. The fact that we have had regular training sessions this year will make it a solid season.” Pantelis believes Fusion will be looking to win the competition and is keen to display what her team has learnt in training. “I think we will be able to show good composure, finishing and perform our signature set plays effectively.”

Fusion ladies kick off their season at 6.15pm against Norwood this Sunday, 1st June. Come and support Fusion and women’s Futsal!
